So, here's what I do know:

  • Minako is simultaneously obsessed and in-denial.
  • This "gone awry" thing is working out like selective amnesia. Minako and Rei forget each other's existence, even as they both know about their time as Sailor Senshi and their past-lives in the Silver Millennium. The others remember them both, but not "together" in any context. Any mention of one to the other just kind of slides off.
  • Lots of altered-states of consciousness, past-lives, dreams, half-remembered encounters, things of that sort.
  • Minako's PoV with Rei "forgotten but not gone" and lots of obsession over someone she thinks she's just met.
  • Rei shows up everywhere.
  • The snapback is going to be awesome. Or horrible. Or some mixture of both.
  • Temptation to abuse other J-media (and some K-pop) as cameo fodder is strong.

Why?

First, Final Fantasy XI is one of the least known of the games, for the reason that it is an MMO, and so hits a different audience. I would like to show off some of the (female-character centric) reasons why I adore it.

Second, both of the "iconic" Final Fantasy XI characters are females, thanks to Dissidia. Besides Shantotto and Prishe are both awesome. Both the original nation missions and the Rise of the Zilart missions seem to be male-oriented, but the rest of the expansions all have a female-character as the primary NPC.

Third, because Vana'diel is an open world, there's room for a lot of stories, and so there are lots of female characters to showcase.

Fourth, Mithra.

Primer Candidates:

1) Shantotto. First of all, she's iconic. Second of all, she has her fingers in everything. Retired Minister, world traveler, has an entire expansion devoted to her trying to take over the world. Speaks in rhyme.

2) Prishe. Also iconic, has immortal angst but would rather kick-ass and be a powerhouse. Comes with a female mentor, and a female-best friend that she's ambiguously lesbians with. (I'd say it's at least one-sided on Ulmia's part)

3) Perih Vashai and Semih Lafinah. Could be included under the Ranger quest, to be honest. I FANGIRL Perih Vashai, who basically comes down to wise and badass. And Semih Lafinah...*sigh*...that bow of hers.

4) Star Sybil & Apururu. Sensible Tarutaru women in power. There's a also one in Fei'Yin, I believe. Plus Kupipi and the Star Sybil's handmaidens.

5) Nanaa Mihgo, who runs the Windurst black market. Her mother Romaa Mihgo could probably be covered in something about the Mithra Mercenaries.

6) Awesome women not from Windurst! San d'Oria has Curilla (leader of the Temple Knights) and Claidie (princess who disguises herself to go on adventures). Bastok...has Cornelia? I guess. I don't know either of these cities or their storylines. ETA: Oh, right! Ayame!

7)Women from other places. Lion, who adventures out of Norg and is Rikku's X-2 fashion inspiration (though more sensibly dressed). Verena, who tries to negiotate a truce with beastmen (IIRC).

9) Rise of the Zilart. Mostly Lion and Verena, but also the Dawnmaidens.

8) Chains of Promathia ladies. Prishe gets her own post, but there's also Ulmia, Esha'ntarl/Cardinal Mildaurion, Shikaree X, Y, and Z, and possibly Cherukiki (even though she's impossible to separate from her brothers).

10) Treasures of Aht Urgan. I'd need to finish this to be sure but theres: Aphmau, Nashmiera, Naja Salaheem, and two of the Serpent Generals. Trying to recall if there are any female corsairs. Oh! And the Elvaan researcher who does Einherjar.

11) Wings of the Goddess. Another one, I have no clue about. Cait Sith is female in this incarnation. There's Lilisette. The Mithra Mercenaries (Romaa Mihgo, Perih Vashai ♥, and some of the Campaign Freelancers(One dragoon, one dragon, one plantoid princess, a beastmaster, an alchemist, and a fairy) There's also the women in the Sandy and Bastok questlines.

12) Others. Beastmen ladies! (There are goblin and yagudo ones, of that I am sure) Guild heads. Notable Quest NPCs. The Chocobo handlers are all Elvaan women. Profiles of historical women who never appeared in game, but are mentioned in the Vana'diel tribune.

So yeah, lots of women.
