I was thinking you should tell me about stories you think I should write. I mean, if you could sit me down for a day or whatever and say, "I want you to write this story for me," what would that story be?

I'm not actually promising to *write* any of these, mind you, but it's fun anyway. And who knows if I'll be inspired!

For maat_seshat, who asked for either Nao or Unohana. This is Nao.

These answers are about things I find fundamental to characters. I really do like playing around with varying possibilities, crack theories, different identity conceptions and a lot of other things that sound really pretentious when it's obvious that I write a lot of mediocre short fic, but these are things that regardless of twisting (such as that In Nomine/Liar Game crossover where Nao is a Mercurian of Yves in service of Novalis in a chess game between Novalis and Malphas or a young trans woman creating a story wherein she gets to be completely girly and save the world her way and get both the guy and a best-friend/mentor) that hold true for the character. Sorry. >.> Just saying, these are the fundamentals.


You might find me a bit *ahem* opinionated as to how to write Nao, and I'm about 99% positive that that way I see her is unlike how most of the rest of the fandom sees her. So this is what makes her both 'in-character' for me and worth writing about as a character. Oh yeah, and this is Manga!Nao because I write her pretty much exclusively.

I think it would be fun to talk about stories, but the usual memes are like, "What happens next?" "Tell me about Character A?" What isn't so much talking about stories as it is writing more of a story. But you know how sometimes you read something and you're like, "I got ___ out of this story, I wonder if that right?" or "What on earth was ____ supposed to be?" and it's too awkward to ask the author? Now you could totally ask!

I've heard people say that writing is hard because you have to make decisions, but we never really talk about the decisions we make with stories or why we make them. We talk about plot bunnies, but not about how we actually turn them into a story.

So, if you wanted, ask me questions!

What were you trying to do [here]? Why did you decide to ____? This is what I thought about xyz, is that what you were going for? What made you write ____? And so on.

1. Go through my fic index and pick out a sentence from one of my stories.

2. I'll try to guess what story it's from (and, if you want, I'll give you some backstory or DVD-commentary for the excerpt).

3. If I guess wrong, you get to ask me for a drabble (character, situation, prompt word, whatever).

I'd cap at something, but I'm realistic here.
