I've watched four of them so far. In fact, I've watched the Castillian one at least three times--the lyrics are really quite hard to pick up--and compared it with the Latin American lyrics. It's really interesting the differences created even within one language...

The two Spanish versions have completely different lyrics. I'm almost wondering if it's a cultural thing. The Latin American version has the ending line which means, "You/They will be strong men of action today." While the Castillan version has "You will be the best for me."

That said, the Castillan singer has a sexy voice.

And yes, I wondered that, too. I think it's probably partially due to the two doing independent "translations" of the song. Obviously, a lot of artistic license is taken with these things, so of course two independent versions come out quite different. But I would be interested in the cultural implications, as well.

I'm kind of bummed that more of them didn't have English translations. And with the fact that it's Disney, I wonder if they choose versions that strike home with their target audience. Since the tone set by the various translated versions are quite different.

I couldn't when I posted it, but I listened to it again today, and it was pretty obvious.

What do you mean? I had to up the volume because the clip is quiet. As far as the accent, I am so in love with Castilian accents at this point that I hear it very much. The added vosotros is a tip off, as well :)

Honestly, Castilian accents always sound at home to me these days, even though, ironically, I can understand the Latin American more readily ^^;

The vosotros for one. But also 'corazon' at the end of the chorus.

It's said that those are really the only two ways I can tell the difference between castillan and latin american spanish.

It's not sad! Those are the biggest clues, and you still remember them! I just had a whooole lot of exposure to Castilian speech patterns, so I'm drawing from a lot of experience.
