Okay, so for the strangest reason, I had this daydream about Mier in philosophy. It's posted in [livejournal.com profile] sombrelucian if anyone wants to see what stream of consciousness crap came out if it. And this gets me thinking about Axis and how screwed up that story is. I think I've given up on what exists right now. It's outdated. Definitely.

There are a bunch of random crap characters. And they all had a story. And the world is about to end, although only the Shadows knew that. And the Shadows are the fatalistic stoic bastards that just stand by and let this happen. It was meant to be a prequel to the pipe dream that was IDT, only because it was Inori's story, it took place on Earth, rather than the stupid imaginary outer space universe that I created. Oh yeah, and it's sometime in the future, and technology hasn't really advanced. Except that computers don't have keyboards anymore. And that is so archaic that characters make jokes about it.

So, the Mary Sues/Gary Stu main team are three: Inori, Nozomi, and Kage. Inori and Nozomi are identical twins, and they *gasp* finding out that they are developing super special magical powers. Namely the ability to will things into happening. Of course there is some problems and limitations, but it's essentially some way of saying 'they can do whatever because they're cool and have this badass power. And guess what the key of these young twenty-something women into finding their power: their feelings for young, bumbling Shadow Kage, who is probably the wankiest character in Axis. Besides Nozomi, who has issues. Oh yeah, and the twins are known as Catalysts. Why? Because they sound cool. Also because they're the ones that are going to start the whole destruction of the planet and the future future galatic upheaval.

So Kage, with his inconsistent (because I knew nothing of linguistic structure then) pidgin (because wow, wouldn't it be soo cool if he couldn't speak their language worth anything) is a SPESHUL SHADOW. Let me capitalize that as to hit your head with the great authorial plot mallet. See, out of all the Shadows, he alone can make a deciscion that will determine the fate of the planet. I'm sure that the more cynical and perceptive of you have figured out what decision he has to make. OMG, he has to choose between the two Mary Sues. Oh yeah, and he also works in a noodle joint. Let's not forget that.

That's the main cast. So let's look at the supporting players:

You've got Kozan and Landra, the trademark People who Snark but Are Meant To Be Together. He's the heir to the Great Kakkatou fortune, with Kakkatou being this clan of tower builders that's pretty much responsible for the pseudo-utopia that's going on. Of course he's a dork for Landra, who tends to be a bitch towards him. And he's obsessive. About her, and about something that he calls a project, which because I have to connect IDT and Axis is guess what? A spaceship. Oh yeah, and for all the readers of IDT, he's also Sekhen's ancestor. Sekhen of course being a heck of a lot cooler, and not quite as dorky. At least one isn't a complete duplicate of the other. That would have sucked. Big time. Landra of course is the Blond Bombshell with a Brain, who seems to be obsessed with propriety. She's also from some random part of Eastern Europe. Because Eastern Europe rocks. Seriously. She tends to be umm... how shall we say... boring? Also anal-rententive. Someone must have potty-trained her too early or something. And she was supposed to return to her mysterious Eastern European homeland, except that there was some revolution, and because she's the daughter of an important figure (not a princess. You may all gasp in amazement now), she should stay where she is. Oh yeah, Kozan lives, she dies. How sad and tragic.

Then you have Mier and Natalia. They're Paranormal Investigators. a.k.a. Shadow Hunters. And yes, they are bumbling and incomptent. And no, they're not romantically involved. Mier just thinks of her as a friend. She thinks of him as a lackey. They get along fairly well, despite it all. He does the dirty work and looks out for her, she feeds him and tells him what to do, and everyone is happy. Well, except for that little deal Mier had to make in order to save Natalia from dying from a psychic sickness. Also, they go around chasing Shadows, which are random beings that most people have never heard of or think exist, but that *gasp* play the vital role in the story. So yes, they exist. Oh, and Natalia is the Shadow fanatic, which means that she remains clueless about them through out the story. Mier gets to hang about with a buch of them and eventually turns into one. Oh... you can smell the irony like a pile of dirty laundry, can't you? Natalia gets to live. She and Kozan run off together on the Spaceship, and eventually grow to hate each other because they're not with their Twuu luvs.

Those are the human characters. So on to the Shadows.

Trist: He's the obligatory leader/puppet figure of the Shadows. If Shadows were allowed to be anything but emotionless asshats, he'd be sad that Kage is messing things up. But he's not. He just doesn't like the little, incompetent bugger, and would in fact lock him away, if the almighty Prophecy wasn't so insistent on it.

Zucaro and Amitai: they're the obligatory Advisors/puppetmasters. He wants to save the world and give Kage a chance. She just wants to see things go boom. He's a geezer who manipulates humans and has the Shadow Equivalent of morons go out and do his bidding. She's a seductive person who has Trist wrapped around her perfectly imaginary finger, and let's loose the Shadow Equivalent of Evil and Slightly Less Moronic Morons to umm... do the requisite bishie torture on Kage.

And there are other Shadow characters, but as of now, they're pretty much halfway developed and therefore are not quite mockable yet.

Anyway...

So plot goes like this (bulleted for easy following):

  • Gary Stu goes to live with Humans. Has culture shock. Makes a fool of himself with every utterance. Is considered handsome, mysterious, and charismatic nonethes less. Secondary characters introduce themselves and have antics.

  • Gary Stu meets Mary Sues, and makes them do complete 180s for them. Bitchy, anti-romance Mary Sue A becomes compassionate, sensitive, and attracted to someone she's known for just a little while. When was the last time you've seen a story-relationship like that? Never I'm sure. Oh yes, and nice, bubbly Mary Sue B gets all paranoid and obsessive and generally becomes a selfish little wankress.
  • Stuff happens. Buildings burn down. People get hurt. Contrived romance develops. Plot twist mallets hit people on the head. More characters are introduced to keep the story flowing. Secondary characters do stuff. Note this is as far that I've actually written. Everything that follows is just a plan.

  • The big day arrives. Gary Stu chooses the one that the storyline has choses for his true love, and they get married and have a night of baby-manufacturing. Of course the world ends the next morning courtesy of the rejected one, now posessed by a Shadow and now turning into something kind of not human. Because humanity is good. (meet the plot mallet there). Gary Stu dies, leaving Mary Sue A to get off the planet and deliver their baby in outer space. God, what a jerk.

  • Surviving members of the human race, including, Kozan, Natalia, and Mary Sue A wander space selling useless crap like toy dinosaurs, Pocky, and Anime DVDs. Mary Sue A, finds out she's pregnant, and 9 months later gives birth to a half-human, half-Shadow future wanker, who of course gets kidnapped by Evil Mary Sue B. Mary Sue A, then does everyone a favor and kills herself. Thus effectively removing herself from the gene-pool. Until IDT.

  • The story ends with everyone miserable and living in their miserable little contrived plots.

Thus ends the tribute to the late great Axis.

Note that this is not meant to be self-insulting. I just enjoy ripping on things, and Axis is a rich, rich target.

Now, I must write my anthropaper... maybe...

Over and out.
