I don't babysit, I traumatize little kids. With FFX-2. Because I really am that irresponsible.
Okay... what's to say? Of course time is going to be somewhat limited and I have a headache right now.
Thursdays and Fridays are Mom's days off, so of course I spend some time with her and Carrie and Carrie's daughther Jessie. We had lunch at Big Bowl, which is this pseudo-Asian food place about a half-hour from us. Good food, and they had some sort of tea/lemonade mix thatwas pretty good as well.
We went shopping afterwards, and I found a Lana jacket, which is the tan thing that is pretty close to what I imagine her wearing as part of her 'default' outfit. And much to her chagrin, I'm wearing it right now.
Friday... well, other than the fact that I don't think I've had anything resembling a nutritious meal (unless grocery store samples count), things have been going pretty well. Mom and I went out to Trader Joe's, which is the place that some person who looks like that Astro 121 professor works and where free Gaboons (balloons) can be got. We also went to Jewel, where I discovered that my mom has the same linguistic reaction to 'bacon' that I do to 'chicken' which is to say that we cannot actually say those words in a normal voice.
Happily, I am employed for the summer. Foltos is willing to rehire me for working in the woods and for painting. So go me. Probably to save up for Nawlins (if I'm allowed to go), I might apply at Walgreen's or the coffee shop at the library.
I talked to Nan the other day, just for a little bit. She seems really sick right now. Dunno. Guess that all that boozing and smoking got around to her. The more I hear her talk, the more I see how bad her life is. I mean stuck in one of those rural Illinois towns with no income, public housing, too sick to work, and I doubt she gets to see any of her children or grandchildren. Michael's being deported to England soon, and Bird is busy with work I guess. Paige and Jamie might not even live with Bird anymore. I know Paige doesn't. And Patso is busy with college and work. Mom and I are up in the suburbs... and generally... well, I got my pessimistic side from her. So honestly, she's probably about as much fun to talk with as I am.
Oh, and I've done no homework during break. I might have read some psychology, but that's about it.
So that's real life.
On to what matters. The ficcage.
I got a strange hankering to write Paine/Baralai fluff. I'm not even that big a fan of the couple. I guess just playing FFX-2 again, and hearing Me-chan complain about that fact that no one seems to write that pairing in character made me think about that. The ficlet is started, and the writing is dull and inconsistent in tone. Oh well. It's writing, and that's what matters. And knowing the quality of FFN, just having it decent will put it in the top percentile of stories.
I think that's all. I can't concentrate on long entries anymore.
Over and out.
