Ganas and angels
May. 8th, 2003 03:19 pmGanas It's all about the ganas. Unfortunately, no tengo.
So where did that random insertion of Spanish come from? Math class, of course. As an honor to those who were taking the calculus AP (salutes Me-chan, whose standing to her right), the eight or so of us who were there watched Stand and Deliver, otherwise known as the most famous math movie ever created. I've probably watched approximately every other year or so in math class since 7th grade. It's the inspiring story of a poor, mostly hispanic L.A. high school, a math teacher with a passion, and a class of former under achiever's passing the AP, which is a lot more impressive now that I have some idea about what goes into getting a good score on the mathematics portion of the AP.
Freedom of speech is now over in government class, so all of my little obsessions with that topic have now been closed. But now it's freedom of religion, to which my reaction is "Oh joy." Methinks I shall bring my Tarot cards, Runes, and have fun pretending to actually have a religious belief. No . . . I'm not that ready to provoke the wrath of the mostly Christian government class.
The In Nomine obsession has flared up to greater proportions, and to commemorate this, I shall rant and rave about my favorite choirs of angels and bands of demons.
Favorite Choirs of Angels
1. Kyriotates: Dude, they're benevolent body snatchers, what's not to love? That they can control mulitple hosts and be a one angel ambush isn't bad either.
2. Elohim: Okay, I just find the picture of the corporeal form of the Elohim in my book to be cute. But I love the whole subjectively objective deal.
3. Cherubim: I just feel like one sometimes. And I really do pity them for having the stereotype of looking like winged babies, because really they're not. I'd like to think that there was one watching over me.
4. Seraphim: I read the excerpt from Fall of the Malakim on the In Nomine site. Oh dear, a Seraphim in the same room as a studio exec. Hilarious, just plain hilarious.
Favorite Bands of Demons
1. Lilim: They're cool, just plain cool. The ultimate party demons, master manipulators, and the doers of favors everywhere. So what if they make you do something in return. Maybe because Lilim would rather be free than evil, I like them better than the other ones. Besides, they're the only Band or Choir in the game that is predominately feminine. Girl Power!
2. Habbalah: Unlike the Elohim who can sense emotion, their demonic counterparts can affect them. Maybe it's their self-delusion that I love about them (they still think they're Angels), or maybe it's the fact that they have strength and weakness issues.
3. Djinn: Pretty much for the same reasons as the Cherubim (except for the fact that I wouldn't want a Djinn watching over me). I really pity them. Craving affection, but not able to show it.
Least Favorite Choir: Ofanim. Dey's got problems with hyperactivity. Having one around would drive me crazy.
Least Favorite Band: Shedim. Think about what a Kyriotate would be if they were evil. Being posessed by one pretty much means the end of a life, but only after their host has done every concievable wrong. Just thinking about them make's me shudder.
Is it just me, or am I more passionate sounding about the demons than I am the angels? Coincidence, nothing more.
Over and out.
