Some random things on my mind:

The true rights and no rights behind freedom of speech:

  • You have the right to speek freely.
  • You have the right to use offensive language.
  • You have the right to be rude
  • You have the right to express your opinion, regardless of its popularity.
  • You have the right to remain closed minded or open minded as is your wont.
  • You have the right to remain silent.

  • You do not have the right to be automatically listened to.
  • You do not have the right not to be offended.
  • You do not have the right to not be thought stupid.
  • You do not have the right to incite a riot by shouting "Fire" in a crowded theater or not. (official)
  • You do not have the right to ruin someone's reputation through falsehoods. (official)
  • You do not have the right to force others to remain silent.

  • You have the right not to listen
  • You have the right to speak up when offended.
  • You have the right to respond to someone's opinion
  • You have the right to mind your own business.

That's my opinion on the matter. Hence, freedom of speech brings more weight of responsibility to the people themselves for exressing dissenting opinions in such a way that people will listen and sympathize.

Name, name, what's in a name

Don't ask me why I'm doing this. Vanity, sheer vanity and nothing more. But name's often symbolize other things. Either we grow into our names or our names grow into us, and that's just our given name. Sometimes our given names don't quite fit in certain situations or even at all, hence we have pseudonyms, nicknames, screen names, usernames, and name changes. And most of these names are only used in some situations.

The names I use

Jaisa Ann Marie Halls: My true and legal name.
Jaisa (pronounced: Jay-suh or therabouts) means "thank goodness my mom didn't name me Jason like she was planning to if I were a girl". It's funny because the name I would have had when I was a boy, Alex, was suitible for both genders.
Ann Marie is a combination of my Nan's middle name and my mother's middle name, an act of foresight on my mother's part when she realized that she didn't have much patience and that two middle names would be better for calming down when she was angry at me.
Halls is the family surname and one that has fought teeth and nail to get passed down each generation. Since I believe my great-grandmother Marion's time, Halls has solely been passed down to the eldest female in each generation. Really of all the people in my family that I've had contact with, I am the only one with the original last name.
My real name 'Jaisa' is what everyone calls me in real life for the most part. Nan will call me "Jaisa Ann" and sometimes people will casually shorten it to "Jais" but other than that it's usually Jaisa.

Puddy: My kiddy nickname.
Puddy is actually "pretty" as pronounced by a two-year-old Jaisa; my aunt Bird and my Nan are the only ones that use it. Unless you are certified blood related to me, call me this and you will die.

Haneno Sakura: My ruler of the universe alter-ego, nickname, and romanization name.
Despite all the functions I attach to it, I rarely use this anymore. Yes, Sakura is the president of the Sakura Brain Corporation, and she will always be despite being an SI MS. I chose Sakura freshman year when our group took Japanese names because it sounded pretty and Haneno because it meant 'of wings' in Japanese, which was a reference to Tasuki's 'tsubasa' character which is another word for 'wings' in the same language. Some friends still call me Sakura, but all of them were part of that circle of friends who were in the original names.

Hekiko Cyan: My tour guide alter-ego, Hekiru fanatic alter-ego, and my preferred self-insertion name.
Hekiko is a furry little rabbit thingy that is the mascot of Shiina Hekiru, and official anime bunny type thing of Planet Hekiru. It's also 'Heki' being the first kanji in Hekiru-sama's name + 'ko' a common feminine suffix. 'Cyan' is a form of greenish-blue, another tribute to Hekiru in which 'Heki' means 'blue' or 'green' in Japanese. She's more interesting as an SI because she isn't powerful and she isn't perfect, so I use her as my SI.

Catalina: RPG name and Spanish name.
I used to be Raquel until some other person claimed that name, and not being one to have a duplicate name, I chose Catalina, the name of my favorite bike, which was stolen, and the name of a character in the old Nickelodeon show Space Cases, which I loved.

Chibigenius: My first online name.
Chibigenius was born from 1) My frustration with having to put numbers at the end of a screen name and 2) My frustrations with the rumors that I'm actually a genius, which I am certifiably not. 'Chibi' means 'mini', so it's a 'mini genius.' I first chose it sophomore year when we had to do websites for advanced algebra. There's really nothing more to it besides the fact that it's my FFN penname.

Dagas Isa: My current online name.
'Dagas' and 'Isa' are two separate runes. Dagas looks like a sideways hourglass with all angles and no curves; 'Isa' is a straight, vertical line. Dagas is a rune bringing a new beginning, Isa is an obsticle. I see it as what I want to be and what I am. Someone on the verge of a new life but stuck in an old one. I like this one better than 'Chibigenius' just because there's a meaning and a personality behind the name. Most people I meet online, unless they know me better from real life or from my writing should stick with calling me this or any of the numerous variants.

That's is all in the name department. Hope everyone survived my trip into Vanityville.

Over and out.
