1. What's your favorite thing about Liar Game? Your least favorite?

Hoo boy.

I love a ton of things about it (obviously), we can start with the fact that it's kind of fun to figure out what's really happening, and see some of the brilliance that come out. Plus there's just some moments that are really beautiful, where someone does something that's really difficult, but is actually the right thing to do. Oh, and Nao, Akiyama, and Fukunaga are all made of awesome in their own ways.

But most of all, I love what's going on between Nao and Akiyama. It's not explicitly romantic, (even though Nao has a pretty obvious crush on him now), but it kind of surpasses romance if that makes sense. She's super naive and good-hearted, and Akiyama's basically there to watch out for her and help her become mentally strong enough that her good-heartedness can overcome just about everything. He's got hurt pretty badly and did some things that went against everything he believes in, and Nao is helping him not just regain trust in others, but sort of forgive himself for what he did. It's just beautiful and symbiotic because even if they never spoke to each other after this, they'd both still be that much better for even just meeting. And that's even ignoring the fact that they're in an incredibly stressful situation that's designed to destroy trust in people, instead of creating it. Plus this exact bond is never explicitly explained this way in the manga, so it's just there...permeating all their interactions. So yeah.

I actually do have quite a few criticisms too. The art really isn't eye-candy by any means, and sometimes it gets kind of painful to watch, even though it's pretty clear. On a more content-based level, I'm kind of upset at how Fukunaga's sexual identity gets treated. Depending on the round she's everything from a man who happens to be able to disguise himself as a woman to a 'woman body and soul'. Some of it is a translation issue, but Kaitani doesn't help his case. Also, Nao's intelligence, sometimes she wavers between being a very intelligent girl who doesn't have a lot of common sense to being an out and out ditz in the same arc.

2. What would be your ideal career?

I think my ideal career would allow me to work independently, probably as a consultant for writing labels or creating exhibits. I'd definitely like something that would bring in an ability to write (since that's probably my only true talent). I think I'd also like to get into a position where I could make museum content more accessible to people who don't speak English fluently (or at all) such as working with translators to create interpretation in different languages.

3. If you could live anywhere, where would you like to the most?

I really, really do want to stay in the Pacific Northwest. Perhaps not Seattle, but the climate is nice, and I love, love, love how accessible the greenery is. Depending on the public transport, living on one of the islands out here would be kind of nice.

4. If you went to Spain, what would you want to see/do there?

Well, considering that I've nailed down my ideal (solo) vacation to having a map, compass, and camera, I'd really really just want to go around say Madrid, Barcelona, or Granada and just you know see everything. Bonus points if I could find some of the less 'touristy' parts of Spain that were still you know really worth seeing. And if I were really taking a flight of fancy, I'd want to do something out on the water.

5. How do you like to spend your free time these days? (And you have to say more than Liar Game :P)

Liar Game!

((I put an exclaimation point there))

Actually, no. I still spend a lot of time on the internet doing stuff not at all related to LG, and playing video games (mostly Oblivion) but I do spend a lot of time with Muu roaming around Seattle (well, not really roaming, since we've got our 'favorite places' now) which is fun, but is also quite exhausting at times. Earlier in the summer, I was also going out to a nearby park and hiking the trails there, and then going out and sitting on the beach.

I'd like to spend more time out in nature. The city is fun, but to be honest, going to downtown, or Cap Hill, or Fremont, or Ballard all the time is kind of a mental toll. So I'd actually like to see some more of the parks and stuff. Or go back to Alki. The beach there is really gorgeous, but actually getting down there is something of a stretch.
