Why pets should fucking live with you.

dagas_isaSeriously, why the hell do you get a pet if you don't intend to actually keep it around? Yes, I realize that there are animals/pets that simply don't work well indoors, but I hope that anyone who keeps them also makes sure to provide shelter for them and take caution for their safety.
There are (or were) creepy people who live in the set of apartments that Muu and I live in. There is also a family that kept an outdoor cat. Sweet little thing, although she and Skript had their brutal moments, but that's kind of to be expected from two female cats. Mostly it was just some hissing through the window and the like.
So this outdoor cat hung around outside the apartment, presumably getting fed and all that stuff. She managed to survive most of the winter. I learned that the cat died just a little bit ago, but Muu figured it was beacuse of that last snowstorm thing before spring. Turned out that was wrong.
Those creepy sick people put bleach outside for the cat to drink, and she did, result being a dead cat. Now I have to go WTF for that because I don't even think I have to go into why that's wrong. Or at least I hope I don't. But I can't help but think, as I pretty much did for most of the winter: Why couldn't that cat live indoors with them? Seriously, I know that money is probably an issue for anyone living in there, but honestly if you're not willing to pay a pet deposit, then you don't deserve to have a pet. If that cat were an indoor kitty, she'd still be alive I bet.
For pets like dogs and cats, I have pretty much one philosophy: If I wouldn't want it indoors, I wouldn't take it. And if I found out afterwards that I couldn't keep it, I would take it to an Animal Shelter. It might be prolonging the inevitable, but at least it's a form of taking responsibility in it's own way.
I guess before I make myself sound a hypocrite, I should admit that I'm kicking myself. Several times I was tempted to take that cat to the Animal Shelter during the winter, but I always refrained from doing so. Partially because the cat belonged to someone, and partially because I never really got around to doing it.
So umm... yeah... OUTRAGE!
Although the sick fucks with the bleach got evicted for an entirely different reason. Can't say that I'm gonna miss them much.
