I found it! I found it! Me-chan, this is why I'm so fascinated by the Nacirema people, and their rather odd culture.

http://www.msu.edu/~jdowell/miner.html

I would copy-paste but that would be copyright violation. However, I will say that it's completely worth reading. The barbaric practices described within must be witnessed to be believed.

Hopefully, you get it. Please. Please tell me you got it. Although if you don't get it from the geography discription or the um... the name... you probably don't get it. N-A-C-I-R-E-M-A.

Oh, and I have empirically decided that I am worth something. ^_^

I figure that a lot of the time you can judge the quality of a person by the people they hang with, and since I've got some pretty smart, cool cookies in my circle of friends, I must conclude that I must be posessed of some traits that they find admirable, and therefore must rock their socks.

Also, I got a cookie from Sabi-chan! ^_^

Over and out.

Oh man, then I'm quite the idiot if my friends resemble part of who I am. But anyway, I'm glad you know you ARE worth something. I haven't known you for very long, and we seldom talk, but I think you're a great person from the few times we have actually conversed. Yay Dagas!

Ah, we read that Nacirema article for the Asian and Pacific Studies camp I went to.

...and I didn't get it right away. >_

I actually picked it up when they were describing the geography. I spent the rest of it listening bemusedly at the description of the body rituals.

*is kind of dense*

Yeah, well it was funny to read it over again after I knew. It makes you think about how we view other cultures too...

Aren't the Nacirema a war-like, imperialist group?

I got it, I don't know why I got it, but having the name spelled out in all caps may have had something to do with it. I swear I've heard this one before.

And you -are- worth something. If the only criteria you can go by to understand that is that I [and/or other poeple] think so, then go right ahead and think of it that way.

Yes, I believe that in recent times the Nacirema have asserted themselves to be a war-like and imperialist tribe. Mostly this has been since the initiation of their new chief.
