All right, circumstances being what they are, Astronomy 121 is looking to screw over all of the students enrolled in this class. Now I doubt that the university system has any specific malice towards me. After all, I'm not late for my tuition, yet. But a number of intertwining events and the week I've had as far as astronomy was concerned makes me think that this course is nothing but a joke.
1. The requirements for the class changed after everyone signed up for it. There used to be very little math involved. Heck, that's what they told us when we signed up for it. Now, it's supposed to fulfill a quantitative reasoning requirement. Quantative reasoning = calculus. Not fun.
2. Often times, what is said in lecture and what is said in the books has nothing to do with the problems that are on the homework. Hence one is stuck staying up looking for random information that might actually get the homework done.
3. Everything's online, so going to the lectures is a waste of time. Except on Thursdays, and that's just to turn in the homework.
4. No left handed seats in the auditorium where it's held. No big surprise, but at least one lefty seat would be appreciated.
5. Solar observing and the majority of the planetarium dates are this week. Which means that we're supposed to complete three extra pieces of homework in one week. And the solar observing sheet says due in section today. Of course the last solar observation date is this afternoon, whereas section is in the morning. *grabs hair*
6. Let's not forget the whole thing with the section change. Although the TA I whose group I was put into gave the lecture today and she seems more fun than Lukic.
Overall, Astronomy is really starting to get on my nerves. Just... *shakes head*.
Japanese is a godsend. Demanding as it is, it's the best course. Perhaps because it's the only one that doesn't really deal with lectures, and we often get pretty pictures to look at. It's also the only one that I'm even remotely on pace with. *pumps fist* 93% baby!!! With all the astronomy frustration, today's class was beyond a relief. We're starting to learn about Japanese houses, so Takeuchi-sensei and the rest of the class talked about some of the culture, o-furo and the squatting toilets and futons and all that fun stuff. Oh, and she finally figured out how to pull the screen for the overhead back up. She'd been struggling with that since this course started, and when she managed to get it up successfully, the entire class broke out into applause, and Takeuchi-sensei did the little showman's bow. Thank you, thank you. Kawaii desu. ^_^
As to the out of school stressors, I will just say that I have finally had a personal encounter with Shinji/Lacan. I will kindly refrain from explaining my opinion of him, from what little personal interaction and from what I've witnessed from Me-chan since he first started reviewing her. But, just as a hint Shinji/Lacan: Don't sign your reviews 'Shinji Ikari' if you don't want us to actually call you that. You are not over-bearing enough to beat out months of knowing you as Shinji from me, despite what seems to be a certain affection for violence. And, Me-chan, I was probably over-reacthing this morning, but Shinji/Lacan and Astronomy are a very combustive mix, you have to admit.
Oh, and I finally have the other two Hikki albums on CD along with a bunch of other songs. *glomps Me-chan* Thank you so much. Flame's 'What can I do' seems to be skipping. Don't worry 'bout it though. I have a good copy on tape, at home.
Oh, and I think I'm officially a Megatokyo fangirl, if webcomics can have fangirls.
Over and out.
