Merry Christmas... Eve?

Never, ever underestimate my ability to leech internet. Never. I should know this after many years of having to leech, but somehow I surpised myself.
So, the big day is here. Instead of going on tirelessly about what I gave and what I got and my exact inventory of gifts, I suppose I'll just say that I got a couple of video games and some other stuff. ^_^ Mostly a reminder of why I infinitely prefer Christmas Eve to Christmas Day.
The Eve is the tradition. The parentals and I started our journey at my Grandparent's house. Uncle Chris was there along with his girlfriend Holly and their new son Christopher, so I got to see my new cousin for the first time. Methinks that someone might be able to carry on the family name now, but I don't know if the little boy has Chris's last name or Holly's.
Anyway, we had the tradition candy jar guessing game, and I think that the world stopped spinning on its axis. Grandpa, best known for his off the wall guesses, was actually closest on the normal jar. And yes, through the modifier 'normal' I imply that there is a non-normal jar (tin) this year. One closed tin, filled with nothing but M&Ms, which made it somewhat easier. Mom guessed within one of the actual amount, but she chose to change her guess at the last minute. Dad was way, way off, which is weird considering that he used to be the candy jar champion.
Later that night, we went over to the Turners, who I believe are my Dad's cousin's from his mom's side of the family. It's the closest that I've ever been to a really large family environment and it is so much fun to be over there. We arrived just as they were getting started with the present game.
The game apparently starts with people drawing numbers from a hat. Whoever has the first number chooses a gift from under the tree and opens it. The following people may either choose to open a mystery gift or steal a gift from anyone who went before them. The most coveted item of the night, a remote control hovercraft, was probably stolen at least ten times. It involved a grandfather stealing from his own son, the subject of an unsuccessful attempt at bartering, and finally Uncle Matt, who was sleeping the entire time and was also last, wakes up for his turn and steals the hovercraft for the last time.
The rest of the night was spent by playing Trivial Pursuit, the DVD version, with Dad, Mom, and I all on separate teams. Despite my complete lack of knowledge with the pop culture, I did pretty well, but it took forever to get all the pies. By the time it was 1:00 a.m. or so, one team just shoved all four tokens in the center, and asked a final question. How my Dad's team, which had two pieces missing managed to win, I'll never know.
We finally got it around 2:00, at which time I fell into a nice little sleep.

Christmas... once the gift opening is over, it doesn't really mean anything. I talked to Nan on the phone, or listened to her as she talked. I love her, I really do, but I inherited my "Well, I don't want to tell you because it'll get you down, but my life is so, so horrible...." tendencies from Nan. Yeah. So darling little Dagas has to listen to some of her own medicine. But at least I don't talk about how I want my posessions to be given away when I die. I deny that she could be that sick. She's not even sixty. ^^;;
Mom's sick. Apparently, she has a bad cold or flu, I've been dealing with a much milder form myself. At least I'm up and about to spread the sickness. Mom had to stay home from Uncle Jim's and Aunt Kay's because she was sick and couldn't do anything but fall back asleep after gifts were opened. So Dad and I are here representing on our own.
I'll be home soon, and I can play FFX. ^_^
Over and out.
