This is weird...Roots of A-type musings.

dagas_isaSo once upon a time, there was this fangirl. For a series that should be kind of obvious if you read this journal *coughcough*
This fangirl noticed that there was an obscure one-shot for her fandom, and that there was no English language knowledge of it whatsoever.
So this fangirl did what any fangirl with access to a Japanese bookstore would do. She went down there and ordered herself a copy. She then read it, was kind of disappointed that it was 30 pages and had nothing to do with the main character's "tragic backstory"
Then she realized that young, innocent Akiyama was adorable. That seeing what he was before was actually really enlightening. And that the story itself was kind of moving and cute.
So she did what any fangirl with a moderately influential (for the fandom) blog would do: She posted about it. And suddenly English speaking people were moderately aware that Roots of A existed.
She wrote a summary and uploaded RAWs. She wouldn't translate, oh no. Because translations are >.<, especially when they've got a ton of text.
Okay, so she ended up translating it anyway, after it was discovered that the guy who was going to do it had gone MIA.
She posted it up on Mangahelpers. Granted a few scanlators permission to use it (with the understanding that none had exclusive rights, mostly because none of them courted her lovely enough to warrant it).
So now there's a kinda LQ scanlation out there using her translation. And perhaps a more HQ one that will use her translation as reference for theirs.
Which, she guesses is kind of cool.
