FANGIRLISM!

I'm fangirling like mad, and I need a partner in crime who knows what I'm talking about.

Consider this, and the resulting refresher in reading Japanese to be my obligatory end-of-quarter sanity saver. So bear with me [livejournal.com profile] muusu.

So, at this point, I've read up to Chapter 44 at One Manga in scanlation, and watched the entire J-drama. I also own volumes 5-8 of the Manga, and done the "reading for the gist of it in Japanese" for it. The last part is sad because this means that there's no one that I can fangirl some of the really good stuff with (and if I thought people would read it, I would so post my crappy translation for Chapter 83).

Anyway, if I had to say one thing that really makes me love this manga (and there's a lot), I'd have to say, it's the way the three main characters are just so slowly and naturally developed over the course of the separate games. Everything is just subtlely done, and there's just little things that I missed on the first read through, that going through again, I appreciate so much more. And just the way the three main characters influence each other, and how there's so much going on below the surface that doesn't get revealed until later. The dynamic between the main three, and the quietness in which it develops and plays out against the background of the game... well, I'm a sucker for it, and I want more.

This might be among the first time that I would probably choke someone if the two main characters are not at least implicitly together by the end of the series. Though Fukunaga can join in on a threesome.

Also note, this applies to the manga only. The J-drama is entertaining in itself, but well... it's structured as an 11 episode TV series, which places certain limits on how things can work. Everyone has personal motivations that are revealed without much suspense. No one really shows much development, and I guess it makes decent entertainment, and Akiyama's actor is pretty (though he looks nothing like the Akiyama in the promo pic, what?). But...but...why is Nao still stupid by the end? Why does Akiyama seem happy about that? Why is Fukunaga a prat who gets his best round 3 manga scene mutilated? Where is the doubting people conversation? What's with the funky lighting?

So, because I don't want to bother [livejournal.com profile] muusu anymore about my fandom of 1, I'm passing it on to everyone. Just be grateful I couldn't find any of you online to day to squee at.

*hugs*
