I don't have a lot on Auron, but I'll try my best!
1) Auron's reasons for getting Tidus and Yuna together have as much to do with a personal joke as they do with the promises he made to Braska and Jecht.
2) Auron has never had a serious romantic or sexual relationship with anyone. That isn't to say he's never tried it, he just really hasn't done it in all seriousness. He's just never been the type of man to rely on another person emotionally.
3) Outside of the initial culture shock, the ten years 'living' in dream Zanarkand bored Auron to tears. One can only watch the same endless series of blitzball games and rivalries so many times before it gets tedious.
