Ahem. Well, that was eloquent. But my eyes don't normally tear up just from reading fanfic. (Then again, fanfic doesn't usually describe a problem I know firsthand. Parents are challenging enough -- how the hey do you tell grandparents?!!!)
But besides that, I love all the little interactions between everybody, though I winced a bit when Lulu took care of the outing for Rikku-- danger, danger, yeep!-- and smiled a bit when, as usual, she noticed what innocent Yuna and dear blockhead Wakka wouldn't.
It's actually incredibly difficult to write a "happily ever after" story without it being maudlin and sappy. It's especially difficult with a quiet and tightlipped character like Paine, on the one hand, and Rikku, on the other, who can tip the story towards sugar coating all too easily unless handled carefully!
