This is where I scream.
Apr. 8th, 2004 07:16 pmWhy? I don't know. But this is the part where I scream. Either because things went really well considering, or because things were really, really chaotic. Actually, that doesn't need to be an either or propostion. I think both works pretty well. Oh yeah, and I have a headache. Which is natural.
It was a club day. It was culture week at the club. Jackson, who was in charge of the organization, and is thus enthusiatic and gung ho came. He brought a piñata. Mexico. Latin America. Right.
Now, let us examine said piñata. Actually, let's not. Just remember that it's filled. Now the first part of the presentation about Latin America went well. A bit about Mexico a bit about Brazil (and yes, for some reason it qualifies at Latin America even though they speak Portuguese. But that's not the part that gave me a headache or made me feel like screaming. That honor belongs solely on Guillermo the Clown Shaped Piñata, now referred to by Guillermo, because I don't have to use the character map to write that name.
Once the presentation was over, Guillermo was taken from the place of honor and brought to the other place of honor, that is, slung over a metal beam by a jump rope. Take forty or so screaming kids, about 26 of whom are actually going to be contributing to Guillermo's execution and the rest of whom are going to be scavenging over the remains (and yes, at one point it did remind me of a bunch of scavengers over a carcass). Blindfold one of them, and give them a baseball bat. Spin them around. Add screaming. Then, let them swing that bat.
Now, when they actually hit Guillermo, and some of his remains come dripping out, the kids descend over the scene, even though someone who is blindfolded is still swinging the bat. Oh yes, and did I mention that these people are all packed into a relatively small space... I didn't? Oh well then...
Yes, that meant something.
At least the kids had fun, no one got hurt, and things probably went as well as they could have.
Anyway, about four of us missed the bus, and at least someone had a car.
Long, stressful, day. That's about it.
Over and out.
