16. How do you support your themes? How do you make sure your language reflects them, and how do you decide whether something belongs in the plot or the theme category?

Plot and theme aren't all that seperate for me. Plot is premise. The theme determines roughly in which direction the plot will go. Or perhaps, the direction in which the plot goes determines the theme. Either way, I'm not sure what it means to support themes as they tend to emerge organically.

Or, I could just say, lots of iterations on key points and never having characters say "I love you" while making it very, very obvious that they are absolutely head over heels.

Other questions. )

Or, in which Jais is possibly setting herself up for too many things.

(This is of course not counting such important things as my Help Japan stories, of which one is in beta, one is conceptualized/planning, and the others are being sort of worked on in the back of my mind. Or the reversathon for [community profile] newgameplus, for which I'd like to write at least one of my prompts. Or *cough* [community profile] kink_bingo*cough*.

1. [community profile] thelittlebang looks interesting, especially now that awesome peeps have reassured me that I won't be stuck and betaless, which omg was my biggest worry ever. The question of course is choosing a fandom and making sure that I can handle that and Megaflare for the duration of time that they overlap. Fandom will probably end up being FFXIII, just for versatility because I'm sure there are at least two ideas I could use for a 15-30k story, but PGSM has a great idea too, and XII (Fran/Penelo) and X-2 (Rikku/Paine) are always possibilities. I had a Madoka/Sailor Moon x-over idea, but it seemed more gen than anything.

2.Took a quick glance over at [community profile] female_fest. I def want to leave some prompts there for people to pick up, even if I really don't know if I'll have time to write anything for that either (fandom, why so awesome) but OMG FANDOMS I KNOW! makes me want to put the effort in.

3. In more general news, the [community profile] girlgay anon post makes me think I should post a Final Fantasy Yuri Guide. I could post links to a few (mostly dead) communities as well as explain what in X/X-2, XII, XIII, and possible XI appeals to me as a yuri writer, since they all have fairly different things to offer. But that leaves such important things at the rest of the Final Fantasies and recs lists for newbies to peruse.

4. And...if we're talking about taking on more responsibilities, I do wonder if it would be possible to get a general-purpose open-for-all-things yuri comm going. Since I think it would be nice to have a space dedicated to yuri (pretty much any East-Asian fandom of any medium) which would include fics, recs, reviews, meta, etc. as well as help make it easier for yuri fandom to gain enough of a critical mass that participating in things like [community profile] femslash11 or the female character trope fest rewarding rather than frustrating because there's be a built-in base of people who know the fandoms. The only problems are that a) I am irresponsible and unorganized and have no clue as to how to get people to join in and b) given the ultimate power to name a yuri community, I'd end up naming it something punny like lily_lovered or lily_hearted.
