Plot demons *shudders*

The lurk everywhere, and they hath infested the sanity support. One song and *boom* that's so going to fix character A when I get to point X *scribble scribble* And while I'm on the thought of character A, let me think about B and C, and exactly how I'm going to mold this next scene, and so on and so forth.

Then there's the inspiration that has nothing to do with writing. I just got the CD that Me-chan burned for me, and she put on Smile DK's 'Future Girls' on it. Someone who makes good AMVs and is a fan of FFX and FFX-2 needs to make a video to that song. It seems to fit so well. Doesn't it Me-chan? Huh?

And in this state of inspiration, I know why I never got anywhere on 'Great Door'. I had Lana, and this nagging need to prove that one could create a OC/Canon romance without the OC being a Mary Sue, but there was nothing else. The plot was merely a contrivance, and while the character certainly survived longer than the story, she wasn't worthy of being such a center of attention. Even from the second chapter, I could feel like this lacked the sort of 'oomph' needed to justify its existence.

'Starless'... Let's not even get into it. Just wow. So much freaking potential oozing from the core, enough that I have no clue where to even begin to live up to it. Subtle, necessary shifts in characterization, places for nuances and 'woah that's neat' stuff in the plot. And my writing style seems to be expanding, if only because it's so different from the stuff I usually write. Not only do I have to work with my old strengths, but I have to examine my weaknesses as well. How to describe something, how to avoid repetition, how to write action, all these things that I've never concerned myself with before. It's just... weird. And nyar on all those people in the writer's forum on Gaia who don't thinking fanfiction is 'real' writing.

I must go back and feed this new demon, and hopefully not get my mouse hand bitten off in the process.
