1. What do you like best about Seattle?
Oh...this is so hard to choose. The landscape would definitely be up there. It's green everywhere, with the exception of the harbor/industrial parts of town. Then there's the opportunity to see Mt. Rainier on the way to school, and even on a sunny day, it sort of towers on the horizon past the main quad area. And on one of the buses that goes back, there's a pretty good view of the Sound and the Olympic mountain range to the west.
The opportunity for free blackberries everywhere is also good. Pike's is wonderful. The (somewhat) conveniently located Kinokuniya makes my financial destruction too easy.
2. Do you miss Illinois?
Illinois itself? Not really. I miss some of the people in Illinois definitely, but I really don't think I'd want to go back there and settle down. I'd definitely want to stay in the Pacific Northwest. If not Seattle, then definitely somewhere in western Washington or Oregon.
3. What do you like best about your grad program?
The fact that it's in Seattle.
No actually, the people who make up the program, the fellow students and the faculty are all a really great close knit bunch, the fact that we can get so much access to the Burke and see a lot of things that aren't in the collection. And in general it's just a really great program, that perhaps isn't 100% for me.
4. Where would you like to go for your next trip?
Ideally, I'd like to go to Spain (Japan being a very close second), and get a chance to just sort of go around and spend sometime in that country (all of it).
Realistically, I'd probably want to try to go to Denver. Especially if it could see the Flobots perform live to a hometown crowd. But other than that, it seems like a city with a really neat and different atmosphere.
Though maybe something naturey and warm would be nice too. Mmmm....deserted tropical island.
5. AB vs. BA--who would win in a cook-off?
Assuming BA is Bad Alton: AB all the way. He's got the skills and the smarts, and he's probably a secret master of Iron Chef-ery.
